Cycle Tracking
Accurate period logging helps Zoë Life predict your cycle and provide better guidance:
Your menstrual cycle has four distinct phases, each with unique characteristics:
- 🔴 Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5)
Your period. Hormone levels are low. This is your body's "inner winter" — a time for rest, reflection, and gentle self-care. Listen to your body and don't push too hard. - 🟢 Follicular Phase (Days 6-14)
Energy rises as oestrogen increases. Your "inner spring" — great for starting new projects, trying new workouts, and being social. You may feel more creative and optimistic. - 🟣 Ovulation Phase (Days 15-17)
Peak energy and confidence! Your "inner summer" — ideal for important meetings, challenging workouts, and connecting with others. You're at your most fertile during this time. - 🟠 Luteal Phase (Days 18-28)
Energy gradually decreases. Your "inner autumn" — focus on completing tasks, meal prepping, and winding down. Some may experience PMS symptoms in the late luteal phase.
Zoë Life automatically shows you which phase you're in and gives you tailored advice!
Regular symptom and mood tracking helps you understand your unique patterns:
- Daily check-in — Rate your overall energy and mood with a quick tap
- Physical symptoms — Track cramps, headaches, bloating, breast tenderness, fatigue, and more
- Emotional symptoms — Log anxiety, irritability, mood swings, or feeling low
- Other factors — Sleep quality, stress levels, and exercise
Over time, you'll see patterns emerge — like always getting headaches on day 22, or feeling your best around ovulation. This knowledge is power!
Zoë Life uses your logged data to predict future cycles:
- Next period prediction — See when your next period is expected to start
- Fertile window — If relevant to your life stage, we'll highlight your most fertile days
- PMS alert — Get a heads-up when you're entering the late luteal phase
- Cycle length trends — Track if your cycles are getting longer, shorter, or staying consistent
Predictions improve with each cycle you log. After 3+ cycles, accuracy increases significantly.
Note: Predictions are estimates based on your data. They should not be used as a sole method of contraception.

Your nutritional needs change throughout your cycle. Here's what we recommend:
- Menstrual phase: Iron-rich foods (spinach, red meat, lentils), warming foods, dark chocolate, herbal teas
- Follicular phase: Light, fresh foods, fermented foods, lean proteins, sprouted grains
- Ovulation phase: Raw vegetables, antioxidant-rich fruits, lighter meals, fibre-rich foods
- Luteal phase: Complex carbs, magnesium-rich foods, B-vitamin foods, healthy fats
Work with your body, not against it, by matching exercise to your cycle:
- Menstrual phase: Rest, gentle yoga, stretching, light walks — honour your body's need to recover
- Follicular phase: Try new workouts! Great for cardio, dance, HIIT, strength training — energy is rising
- Ovulation phase: Peak performance time! High-intensity workouts, competitions, PR attempts, group classes
- Luteal phase: Moderate exercise, strength training (early), then tapering to pilates, swimming, yoga (late)
Listen to your body — these are guidelines, not rules. Some days you'll feel different than expected, and that's okay!
Self-care looks different in each phase of your cycle:
- Menstrual phase: Extra sleep, warm baths, journaling, saying no to extra commitments, cosy nights in
- Follicular phase: Start new projects, socialise, try new experiences, set goals, brainstorm
- Ovulation phase: Schedule important conversations, date nights, networking, presentations
- Luteal phase: Batch cooking, organising, completing tasks, solo activities, winding down
